The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has sought approval from the federal government to white-top 39 extra roads, stretching throughout 114.46 km within the metropolis, at an estimated value Rs 1,449 crore, officers stated.
This would be the third section of the white-topping mission in Bengaluru. A proposal on this regard was not too long ago submitted to the state authorities searching for nod and funds for the street infrastructure mission, they added.
Among the many key roads that will probably be white-topped are the Outer Ring Highway (ORR) from Silk Board to KR Puram, Hennur Principal Highway, Horamavu Agara Highway, Kaggadasapura Principal Highway, Kammanahalli Principal Highway, Ulsoor Lake Highway, New Thippasandra Principal Highway, Indiranagar Double Highway, Indiranagar twelfth Principal Highway and Interior Ring Highway at Yeshwanthpur, amongst others.
Below the primary two phases of the mission, work on round 143 km of roads within the metropolis is nearing completion. Within the first section, 94 km was lined at a price of Rs 972 crore, whereas within the second section, 49 km was white-topped at a price of Rs 704 crore.
This would be the largest section of white-topping to be taken up by the town, regardless of the state authorities’s intention to evaluation the mission owing to its excessive value.
