In a historic second for India’s civilisational heritage, the manuscripts of the Shrimad Bhagavad Gita and Bharat Muni’s Natyashastra at the moment are among the many 74 new documentary heritage collections which were added to UNESCO’s Reminiscence of the World Register.

Celebrating the second, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to X, calling it a ‘proud second’ for each Indian internationally.

“The inclusion of the Gita and Natyashastra in UNESCO’s Reminiscence of the World Register is a world recognition of our timeless knowledge and wealthy tradition,” Modi mentioned.

“The Gita and Natyashastra have nurtured civilisation and consciousness for hundreds of years. Their insights proceed to encourage the world,” he added.

Entries on the scientific revolution, girls’s contributions to historical past, and main milestones of multilateralism from 72 nations and 4 worldwide organisations had been additionally included within the register.

With this, India now has 14 inscriptions on the worldwide register.

Union Minister of Tradition and Tourism additionally took to X to have fun the inclusion, calling it a “historic second.”

“This world honour celebrates India’s everlasting knowledge and creative genius,” he mentioned, including, “These timeless works are greater than literary treasures—they’re philosophical and aesthetic foundations which have formed Bharat’s worldview and the way in which we expect, really feel, reside, and specific.”

On April 17, UNESCO added 74 new documentary heritage collections to its Reminiscence of the World Register, bringing the full variety of inscribed collections to 570.
