Mazumdar is the chairperson and managing director of Bengaluru-based Biocon Ltd, which has a fortune of over $2.16 billion. Thought of a pioneer in biotechnology, Shaw can also be a educated brewmaster and was accorded the Padma Shri award in 1989.
Mazumdar and Shaw reportedly met within the Nineteen Nineties when the Scotsman was visiting Bengaluru. The duo married in 1998.
He had served as vice chairman of Biocon after becoming a member of Biocon in 1999. He had been present process most cancers therapy in a non-public hospital in Bengaluru for the previous few months.
Shaw’s cremation was held on the Wilson Backyard crematorium within the metropolis on Monday night.
Mohandas Pai, chairman of Manipal World Training, and Dr CN Ashwathnarayan, minister of IT, BT and Science and Know-how, have been amongst those that condoled his demise.
