Gangrape case: SC refuses to set aside anticipatory bail of former chief secretary of Andaman & Nicobar

The Supreme Court docket on Monday refused to put aside the anticipatory bail granted to the previous chief secretary of Andaman and Nicobar, Jitendra Narain, dealing with allegations of gangrape and sexual abuse.

The court docket has directed Narain to method the classes court docket to use for bail by November 9.

The Centre on October 17 suspended the senior IAS officer and the chairman and managing director of the Delhi Monetary Company after the allegations.

The Indian Categorical on October 15 reported that two serving bureaucrats, together with Narain, have been accused of sexual assault and gang rape by a 21-year-old girl in Port Blair.

Primarily based on a grievance from the survivor, an FIR was lodged on the Aberdeen police station in Port Blair on October 1 in opposition to Narain and RL Rishi, posted as labour commissioner in Andaman & Nicobar Islands. The police have arrange a Particular Investigation Group (SIT) to probe the allegations.
