Indian music industry calls for AI transparency to protect copyright owners | Business News

The Indian Music Business (IMI) has urged the federal government to introduce guidelines guaranteeing transparency in generative synthetic intelligence (AI) fashions, notably to safeguard creators and copyright holders.

Talking on the All About Music convention, IMI Chairman Vikram Mehra urged the federal government to mandate disclosures every time generative AI fashions ingest copyrighted supplies throughout their machine studying processes. He emphasised that copyright holders and creators should be shielded from potential misuse as AI turns into more and more prevalent in content material creation.

Mehra outlined the trade’s sturdy progress, now valued at ₹3,500 crore, and projected that the sector may develop to ₹10,000 crore if platforms speed up the transition towards subscription-based fashions, complemented by limited-feature ad-supported choices. He additionally warned in opposition to massive interactive platforms, particularly brief kind video apps, exploiting authorized loopholes like “protected harbour” protections to keep away from accountability.

Mehra introduced an upcoming digital market designed to streamline licensing for on-ground public performances. This platform goals to simplify the method by providing customers a single license from varied suppliers, bettering compliance and boosting ease of enterprise.
