On Thursday, the Navy’s indigenous guided missile destroyer INS Surat efficiently test-fired the Medium-Vary Floor-to-Air Missile within the Arabian Sea.

“The Indian Navy’s newest indigenous guided missile destroyer INS Surat efficiently carried out a precision cooperative engagement of a sea-skimming goal, marking one other milestone in strengthening our defence capabilities,” the Navy had mentioned in a press release.

Pakistan had issued a notification for the firings within the Arabian Sea.

The developments come amid elevated tensions between India and Islamabad following a terror assault in Kashmir’s Pahalgam on April 22, wherein 26 civilians—most of them vacationers—had been killed by terrorists.

As India has vowed retaliation, the previous couple of days have seen a number of operations carried out by safety forces throughout Kashmir. Earlier this week, Military Chief Common Upendra Dwivedi visited Kashmir to evaluate the safety scenario. There have been repeated ceasefire violations from Pakistan alongside the Line of Management (LoC), the Military mentioned, including that the Indian facet has retaliated successfully. There have been no casualties reported.
