In an interview with Newsmax on Wednesday, Lake admitted to recording the dialog and hinted that she was the one who leaked it.
The senate hopeful defined her motivation for recording, saying, “I recorded this as a result of I used to be nervous, I assumed there might be a menace.”
“I by no means listened to it till simply a few days in the past. And I don’t know what nudged me to hearken to that recording,” she continued. “My daughter, who’s 20, was sitting with me. And I pressed play. And he or she was gasping listening to this name. And he or she stated, ‘Mother, what are you going to do about this?’ And I wasn’t going to do something about it. And I assumed, ‘Oh my gosh, if I do not do one thing about this sort of conduct, what is going to my daughter suppose?'”
