Karnataka elderly couple suicide due to cybercrime: Cops arrest Gujarat man | India News

The Karnataka police probing the suicide of an aged couple, who have been duped of almost Rs 60 lakh by cybercriminals, have arrested a person from Gujarat, they mentioned on Monday.

The arrested accused has been recognized as Chirag Jeevaraj Bhai Lakkad, a resident of Surat.

On March 27, Diogjeron Nazareth (83) and his spouse Flaviana Nazareth (78) have been discovered lifeless at their residence in Belagavi. Diogjeron had left behind a word, during which he claimed that he was trapped by cyber criminals. “Lakkad had inserted a SIM card linked to the checking account of the mentioned agency on his cellphone and the cash was transferred to 2 different accounts by way of netbanking. Diogjeron labored on the Secretariat in Mumbai, and had shifted to Bidi village in Belagavi after retirement.

Police additionally mentioned that Diogjeron had borrowed Rs 5 lakh from two buddies and Rs 50,000 from a priest and likewise taken a gold mortgage of Rs 7.15 lakh.
