Karnataka: Pollution control board issues circular to authorities ahead of Deepavali

Forward of Deepavali, the Karnataka State Air pollution Management Board (KSPCB) Tuesday issued a round to the police, civic physique Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), schooling division, hearth division, and the district authorities, asking them to implement the orders of the Supreme Court docket concerning the timings of bursting firecrackers, amongst others.

“The round stated that the Supreme Court docket has allowed the bursting of firecrackers between 8 pm to 10 pm and solely inexperienced firecrackers have been allowed. Utilization and sale of other forms of firecrackers are banned. Instructions have been given to all districts to measure air and sound air pollution on all of the seven days earlier than Deepavali and 7 days after the competition i.e. from October 17-31. In response to the Supreme Court docket order all districts need to measure air and noise air pollution,” the round stated.

“The district authorities have been requested to make sure a correct disposal of the waste collected in the course of the festive days. The studies of air and noise air pollution recorded from October 17-31 must be despatched to the KSPCB by November 05,” it added.

The board may also conduct consciousness campaigns concerning eco-friendly Deepavali at public locations like bus stands, metro stations, and malls.
