Two days after a Lord Rama idol was put in rather than a statue of Tripura former deputy chief minister Baidyanath Majumder that was vandalised in 2018, Chief of the Opposition Jitendra Chaudhury has demanded the federal government reinstall the statue in Unakoti district and relocate the idol with full dignity.
In a letter written to Chief Minister Manik Saha on Sunday, Chaudhury mentioned that an idol of Lord Ram was put in on the Srirampur Tri-junction of the Chandipur RD block in Kailashahar rather than the late CPM chief’s statue put in in 2012.
“The previous deputy CM’s statue was vandalised by a bunch of miscreants proper after the 2018 Meeting election and threw it into Manu river. The then chief minister, Biplab Kumar Deb, had expressed remorse over the incident and had requested well-wishers to arrange one other statue in the identical place. Native residents have been making ready to arrange one other statue. However this incident (putting in a Lord Rama idol) occurred instantly at midnight of the night time on Friday,” he wrote.
