Men brandish swords at Bengaluru Eid Milad celebration, 18 detained: Report | Bengaluru

5 males and 13 minors have been detained by police in Bengaluru this morning after they brandished swords and different weapons at an Eid Milad procession within the metropolis’s Someshwara Nagar space on Sunday.

The boys have been booked on numerous prices, together with illegal meeting and disturbing the peace, NDTV reported. Police acted after a video was shared on-line and mentioned the adults can be remanded to judicial custody whereas the minors can be despatched to the suitable authorities.

An unnamed police officer was quoted as saying that the 18 who ‘took half within the celebrations… brandishing harmful weapons’ had no felony background and ‘appeared to have been influenced by numerous current incidents’.

Based on P Krishnakant, deputy commissioner of police (Bengaluru South), the incident occurred after a procession that adopted the Eid operate; this was when some folks went to inside areas of Someshwara Nagar and danced and brandished weapons.

There was, nevertheless, calm and concord in different elements of the town.

This comes after different movies on social media of a rally in Karnataka’s Udupi on Gandhi Jayanti by a pro-Hindu group, during which some folks have been seen carrying swords and machetes and elevating slogans for a ‘Hindu Rashtra’ as police walked subsequent to them.

It’s unclear if motion has been taken towards them.
