Meta has eliminated a Fb web page used to trace the presence of immigration brokers on the request of the Division of Justice, the corporate confirmed on Tuesday.
Lawyer Basic Pam Bondi stated in a publish on X that “following outreach” from the DOJ, Fb eliminated a “giant group web page” that was getting used to focus on ICE officers.
Meta stated in a press release that the group “was eliminated for violating our insurance policies in opposition to coordinated hurt.”
Meta is the most recent tech firm to limit instruments used to trace ICE brokers on its platform. Earlier this month, Apple and Google blocked downloads of cellphone apps that flag sightings of U.S. immigration brokers, simply hours after the Trump administration demanded that one significantly fashionable iPhone app be taken down.
