‘Nitish Kumar’s defeat, not of alliance’: Ex RJD MLA on Kurhani bypoll result

Former Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) legislator Anil Sahani whose disqualification necessitated bypoll in Bihar’s Kurhani Meeting constituency stated that the defeat wasn’t of the Mahagathbandhan (grand alliance) however of chief minister Nitish Kumar. Blaming the bypoll defeat on JD(U)’s alternative of candidate, Sahani stated that fielding a non-EBC candidate in an Extraordinarily backward Class seat was a mistake.

The Bharatiya Janata Occasion (BJP) received the Kurhani Meeting seat defeating the Janata Dal (United) by 3,645 votes. BJP’s Kedar Prasad Gupta received the bypoll by securing 76,722 votes, whereas JD (U)’s Manoj Kushwaha Singh obtained 73,073 votes.

Sahni, who has been convicted and sentenced to a few years in jail in a case of fraud probed by CBI, demanded Nitish Kumar’s resignation.

“The best way Tejashwi Yadav sacrificed the occasion image (for bypoll), Nitish Kumar also needs to resign from the CM put up and make Tejashwi Yadav the chief minister for strengthening ‘Mahagathbandhan’,” the previous MLA added.

Former deputy chief minister and Rajya Sabha member Sushil Kumar Modi additionally demanded Nitish Kumar’s resignation over the bypoll defeat.

“After the defeat in Gopalganj and now in Kurhani Meeting Bypoll Nitish Kumar ought to resign. Within the 2014 Lok Sabha Election, Nitish Kumar was diminished to 2 seats in Bihar after which needed to resign, equally, he ought to settle for that his reputation has decreased,” Sushil Modi advised ANI on Thursday.
