OLA CEO, top staff booked after engineer dies by suicide, probe on | Bangalore News

The Bengaluru metropolis police not too long ago booked a case towards Ola CEO Bhavish Aggarwal and different workers after a 38-year-old worker allegedly dedicated suicide, abandoning a dying word the place he alleged harrassment by the administration.

The deceased is recognized as Ok Aravind, a resident of Chikkalasandra in Bengaluru. Aravind allegedly dedicated suicide on September 28 however the case was registered on October 6. Nonetheless, it got here to mild on Monday. Aravind was employed at Ola Electrical as a homologation engineer from 2022.

The police have named Subrat Kumar Sprint, Head, Car Homologations and Rules, Ola Electrical; Bhavish Aggarwal and a few others within the FIR underneath Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita’s (BNS) Part 108 (abetment of suicide).

Aravind’s elder brother, Ashwin Kannan, filed a grievance with the police, saying his brother had left a 28-page dying word. Based on the FIR filed on September 30, Rs 17,46,313 was credited to Aravind’s checking account via NEFT two days after his dying.

“I felt suspicious as such an enormous quantity was credited to his account. Upon enquiring with Subrat Kumar Sprint, he was requested to contact the HR. Upon checking with them, Krithesh Desai, Paramesh and Roshan – all representatives of Ola Electrical – got here house and defined in regards to the cash transactions which have been abrupt and didn’t have any logic. It seemed like the corporate was attempting to cover some data,” Ashwin mentioned within the FIR.

Within the dying word written by Aravind, he alleged Sprint and Aggarwal have been harassing him at work and didn’t pay the salaries and different incentives which pushed him into despair, ultimately resulting in dying by suicide. “I would like the police to take motion towards them and supply justice to me,” the FIR mentioned.

Neither Sprint nor Aggarwal have issued any assertion on this regard. DCP (South West) Anitha B Haddannavar advised The Indian Categorical the case was initially registered as “unnatural dying” and Aravind’s brother filed a grievance after the dying word enumerated the explanations. “We’re wanting into the problem and the probe is underway,” she added.
