Serie A will have semi-automatic offside detection from Jan 27: FIGC

Italy’s soccer federation (FIGC) has authorised the introduction of SAOT know-how, the semi-automatic offside detection system, from Jan. 27, it introduced on Monday.

Serie A president Lorenzo Casini had stated it could be launched on the primary matchday after the World Cup break on Jan. 4 however the brand new date has been set after testing.

Serie A would be the first league to implement the offside system, the identical one used on the World Cup in Qatar, ranging from the twentieth championship spherical.

“The Council authorised the introduction of the SAOT know-how … following the conclusion of the offline exams presently underway on the IBC in Lissone,” the FICG stated in a press release.
