South Korea, US To Hold Largest-Ever Military Drills Amid N Korea Tensions

South Korean and US forces will maintain their largest-ever live-fire workouts in June in a present of pressure to North Korea, which has ratcheted up stress with quite a few missile launches, South Korea’s defence ministry mentioned on Wednesday.

South Korea plans to mark the seventy fifth anniversary of the founding of its navy in September with a show by the allies’ forces of their “overwhelming deterrence and response capabilities” towards the North, that can embody South Korea’s missile defence system, the ministry mentioned.

In current weeks, North Korea has been ramping up its navy exams, firing an intercontinental ballistic missile final week and conducting a nuclear counterattack simulation towards the U.S. and South Korea over the weekend.

The US has about 28,500 troops in South Korea.
