‘Speak in Hindi’: drunk man abuses woman police officer in Bengaluru, arrested | Bangalore News

A 29-year-old drunk man was arrested for allegedly abusing an on-duty girl police officer at a drink-driving checkpoint in Bengaluru’s Indiranagar space on Thursday evening, the police stated.

The accused–recognized as Aditya Agarwal, a resident of Akshayanagar on Bannerghatta Street–was taken into custody following the incident, which came about round midnight when the police stopped his automobile (KA-01-MZ-1489) exterior Vapour Pub for the standard alcohol check.

Officers noticed him trying to have valet employees drive his automobile, suspecting he was making an attempt to keep away from the checkpoint. When approached by the police, Agarwal ran to the pub.

After pub employees took Agarwal out, Sub-Inspector Kavitha D requested Agarwal endure an alcometer check. He allegedly refused and commenced abusing the officer on the prime of his voice, demanding she talk solely in Hindi or English. He allegedly insulted the Kannada language and police personnel in entrance of tons of of onlookers.

Kavitha summoned a Hoysala patrol crew to deal with the state of affairs. A subsequent alcometer check confirmed Agarwal was driving inebriated, exceeding authorized limits, the police stated.

The Bengaluru metropolis police posted a video of the incident on X.

“Crossing the road from drunk to disorderly leads straight to police motion. Suppose earlier than you act, or face the implications!” the caption learn.

Agarwal has been booked below sections 352 (intentional insult with intent to impress breach of peace), 351 (prison intimidation), and 132 (assault or prison drive to discourage public servant from discharge of his obligation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

The police stated additional investigation was underway.
