Teen seen brandishing gun at Howrah Ram Navami rally held: TMC | Latest News India

A 19-year-old man, who was allegedly seen carrying a gun throughout a Ram Navami procession- adopted by a communal violence – final week in West Bengal’s Howrah district, was arrested from Bihar, the Trinamool Congress mentioned on Tuesday. The West Bengal Police mentioned the youth, recognized as Sumit Shaw, was arrested from Munger in Bihar.

A video of Shaw purportedly brandishing a firearm through the Vishwa Hindu Parishad’s (VHP) Shobha Yatra in Howrah had gone viral on social media after it was shared on Twitter by Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee. Banerjee had alleged that the video portrayed the BJP’s “dangabaji method” to unleash communal violence. The BJP, nevertheless, rejected the TMC nationwide normal secretary’s claims.

After Shaw’s arrest, Trinamool Congress chief Kunal Ghosh hit out at BJP’s ‘fact-checking’ expertise after denying the accused’s participation within the VHP rally. “He (Shaw) has confessed his participation within the procession with firearms. Following the violence in Howrah, the West Bengal authorities on Friday handed over the probe to Felony Investigation Division (CID).

Banerjee on Monday slammed the BJP and puzzled why Ram Navami rallies have been being organised for 5 days. She alleged the rallies have been being intentionally taken by means of Muslim-majority areas with out police permission.
