Tokyo Olympics: Belarus athletics coach charged with harassing sprinter by Athletics Integrity Unit

A Belarus athletics coach who allegedly tried to power an athlete to fly residence from the Tokyo Olympics has been charged with improper conduct.

The sprinter acquired police safety after voicing fears for her security and was later granted asylum by Poland.

Yury Maisevic has been charged with three offences by the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU).

The AUI alleges that Maisevic, who was Belarus’ head coach on the Tokyo Video games, “verbally and mentally harassed” Tsimanouskaya.

Coach Artur Shumak, who was additionally underneath investigation, has not been charged.

“The AIU alleges that, in respect of those circumstances of Tsimanouskaya’s elimination from the Olympic Video games, Maisevich didn’t act with integrity and acted in dangerous religion; didn’t safeguard the athlete’s dignity and his actions constituted verbal and psychological harassment; and that he introduced athletics usually into disrepute,” stated the integrity unit.

“An essential function of the AIU is to safeguard athletes and defend them from harassment. The AIU has investigated this matter totally and considers there’s a case to reply for a breach of the Integrity Code of Conduct,” stated AIU head Brett Clothier.

Tsimanouskaya posted a video on-line saying that she was entered into the 400m relay occasion at quick discover by Belarusian officers, after some team-mates have been discovered to be ineligible to compete.
