Towing of vehicles to return to Bengaluru, this time under police supervision | Bangalore News

The towing of autos from no-parking areas is ready to be reintroduced in Bengaluru, with officers mentioning that roadside parking was resulting in site visitors congestion in a number of areas of town. The system had been stopped in February 2022 following allegations of corruption.

“The towing system, as soon as operated by personal contractors and recognized for its ‘tiger’ towing autos, will now be reintroduced underneath the direct administration of the police division. To keep away from random parking on busy roads, towing should return. This time, the police will oversee the method,” G Parameshwara, Dwelling Minister, mentioned on Tuesday after a gathering with Bengaluru metropolis police officers.

Earlier, the towing of autos from no-parking areas had been outsourced to personal businesses, resulting in a number of complaints of harassment. In February 2022, the Karnataka authorities suspended the system in Bengaluru following allegations of large-scale corruption.
