In a letter to Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha, the Kokborok Sahitya Parishad Saturday sought the inclusion of the Kokborok language within the Eighth Schedule of the Structure. The tribal literary physique acknowledged that the script for the Kokborok language can both be Bengali or Devanagari.
“Kokborok is among the oldest and most generally spoken languages among the many indigenous communities of Tripura. He asserted the necessity for writing Kokborok within the Roman script, owing to its widespread use amongst languages within the Northeast.
Kokborok is the lingua franca of the tribal communities in Tripura.
