Tripura is now a fully literate state, says CM Manik Saha | India News

Tripura has attained “full literacy”, with a literacy fee of 95.6 per cent, Chief Minister Manik Saha introduced on Monday, citing information from Understanding Lifelong Studying for All in Society (ULLAS)- Nav Bharat Saksharta Karyakram.

“This can be a historic second. We’ve acquired the popularity of a totally literate state. It’s a matter of pleasure for us. Those that labored tirelessly–training division, lecturers, and college students–I thank all of them. Sabka saath, sabka vikas, sabka prayas. We have to go the final mile,” he stated throughout a programme held at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan in Agartala.

Saha stated the state recorded a literacy fee of 20.24 per cent in 1961, from the place it jumped to 60.44 per cent in 1991, 73.19 per cent in 2001, and 87.22 per cent in 2011. In 2023-24, the literacy fee was 93.7 per cent and it rose to 95.6 per cent in 2024-25.

Ninety-five per cent is the edge for full literacy set by the Ministry of Schooling. The literacy programme was earlier restricted to instructing folks find out how to write their names, however its focus has expanded to incorporate basis literacy and numeracy, studying, writing, primary arithmetic, essential life expertise, vocational expertise, persevering with training, and ability improvement, Saha stated.

“Literacy wants to achieve each family. If it’s not fulfilled, we can’t attain our vacation spot. I’ll ask the training division to deal with those that are left,” the chief minister stated.

“Tripura is progressing in each sector. If we discuss GSDP (gross state home product), we’re the second highest within the northeast, after Assam. We’ve the second-highest per capita revenue, after Sikkim,” he added.
As many as 2,228 volunteers throughout the state are a part of the literacy programme, supported by 943 Samajik Chetana Kendras.

Of the 4,597 examinees, 3,581 handed the Basis Literacy and Numeracy Evaluation Take a look at held on March 17 final 12 months.
