Two killed in firing incident along Assam-Arunachal border – ThePrint –

Dhemaji (Assam) [India], June 5 (ANI): Two individuals had been killed and two others had been injured in a taking pictures incident in Assam’s Dhemaji district alongside the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border on Monday, police stated.

The deceased individuals had been recognized as Boga Chutia and Monitu Gogoi.

The incident occurred within the Panbari space in Dhemaji district which is positioned alongside the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border.

Ranjan Bhuyan, Superintendent of Police of Dhemaji district stated that investigation is underway on this matter.

“Two individuals died and two others had been injured within the firing incident. When the victims went to the reserve forest space alongside the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border, some miscreants fired upon them. Our investigation is on,” SP Ranjan Bhuyan instructed ANI.

Within the aftermath of the incident, CM Biswa Sarma stated that some individuals perform assaults like this within the greed of land and additional investigation shall be carried out within the matter.

Whereas addressing the media, Assam CM Sarma stated, “Boundaries are but to be demarcated. Our neighbouring state don’t assault us, some individuals do that within the greed of land. The Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police of the district will examine the matter.”

Assam and Arunachal Pradesh share an 804 km lengthy boundary and a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma and his Arunachal Pradesh counterpart Pema Khandu in New Delhi in April this yr to resolve the decades-long border row between two states in presence of Union House Minister Amit Shah.
