The US and Iran’s rival blockades of the Strait of Hormuz have change into a “check of wills”, says BBC’s Chief Worldwide correspondent Lyse Doucet.
Earlier this month, US forces introduced they’d intercept or flip again vessels travelling to or from Iran’s coast.
Iran calls the blockade “piracy”, and its high negotiator, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, has mentioned reopening the strait is “not attainable” whereas the US maintains its naval blockade.
Lyse Doucet is reporting from Tehran given that none of her materials is used on the BBC’s Persian Service. These restrictions apply to all worldwide media organisations working in Iran.
